Colomba Classica

Flown in fresh from Sicily! This typical Easter dessert from Italy is commonly shared with friends and family during Pasqua. The word Colomba means 'dove' in Italian and these delicious breads are formed in the shape of a dove to represent peace. Using only ancient and local ingredients from Sicily the baking process is achieved completely by hand, taking special care to follow the traditional methods. After forming the dough it is allowed to rise for up to 3 days before being baked upside-down. This process uses no preservatives and results in a perfectly soft texture and intense aroma and flavor with a shelf life of several months. Several variations are available while supplies last.
